PolycarbonateHouse (3)

From this simple concept we moved on, choosing the polycarbonate as a main building material. Polycarbonate because of its structural strength, because of its insulating feature, because of its white transparency. We used the standard size as a module (2 x 2 mt sheet), utilising a peculiar system of cuts and joints (in order to reduce the price of construction into half, the house doesn't have a separate structure or any frame to hold the polycarbonate sheet, the outer shell is structural itself). Silicon is used to glue roof with the walls as wellas the transparent tape on the joints to get everything waterproof. As a final result we obtained a volume of 2 x 8 x 2 mt. The polycarbonate sheets are screwed to a wooden frame fixed to the ground, this frame has a 2% inclination in order to get the rain drainage on the flat roof.
The plan is very simple: you enter the outer door and you are in a patio garden. To your right there is the toilet & shower, to the left the kitchen and finally you arrive to the bed room.
The floor is built in old stones borrowed from a neighbour and concrete blocks covered with layers of transparent plastic film. If necessary, the patio can be shaded with a silky screen.
